Epoxy garage and floor coatings turn a dingy concrete slab into a finished room. Our epoxy floor coating process always starts with diamond-grinding the concrete for proper adhesion — no acid-etch shortcuts that fail in a year — followed by crack and pit repair, a two-part epoxy base, decorative flake broadcast, and a polyaspartic top coat.
Why diamond grinding (not acid etching)
Acid etching is a shortcut. It creates a slightly rough surface that epoxy can stick to for a year or two — and then it starts peeling. Diamond grinding is the actual professional standard: we run a planetary grinder with diamond-segment tooling across the entire slab, opening the concrete pores and removing the smooth top layer. Epoxy applied over a properly ground slab bonds chemically and mechanically, and that's why ours lasts 10+ years instead of 2.
Decorative flake systems
Most of our garage epoxy projects in Gwinnett County are a full chip-flake system: epoxy base coat, broadcast vinyl color flake, and a polyaspartic clear top coat. The flake hides dirt, dust, and minor imperfections; the polyaspartic top coat resists hot tire pickup, gasoline, oil, and chemicals. We have color samples on hand and bring them to the estimate.
